Brett and Eric attribute the growth of AMCS to the increasing motorcycle market and their customer’s need to be treated as an owner of a premier product. The two feel that owning an American built motorcycle is not only a pleasurable pastime, but also a feeling of pride and prestige. Cadillac®, Lexus®, and Lincoln® owners have high expectation of their service experience and the duo believes the same true with American-made motorcycle owners. They welcome you to become a member of their rapidly growing family!

The 1250 sq ft store on Chelton Loop was a stepping stone to a full service location offering motorcycle parts, service, and sales. Again, by word of mouth and focus on quality, the store quickly filled and the need arose to expand and hire more employees. While at the location, they also became a preferred service provider to the Colorado Springs Police Department, servicing the city’s 15 Harley-Davidson ® motorcycles. With the continued support of their customers, the company expanded several times and eventually moved to a new location at 6314 East Platte Avenue. In addition to Brett and Eric, AMCS now employs 15 professionals in service, parts, and sales.
AMCS was started out of a small one car garage in the hopes of eventually locating to a full sized store. Growing only by word of mouth, Brett continued to service customer’s bikes from his home garage for over a year. The demand became too large for him to handle working only nights and weekends. In October 2005, he and Eric Reed, a customer of Brett’s, decided to begin a business partnership and move the company to a small commercial garage located on Chelton Loop in the center of Colorado Springs.
The partnership was grown from a working relationship at the Indian ® Dealership. After several bad experiences at other service facilities, Eric was recommended by a friend to visit Indian ® motorcycles. Delighted by the customer service and quality of work, he became a loyal customer. When the Indian ® factory closed and subsequently the dealership, Eric followed Brett to his home garage for all his service and parts needs. As the two became friends, Brett shared his long term vision of creating a store that he would patronize if he were a customer. Eric is a life long motorcycle enthusiast and a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant. After retiring, Eric wanted to take his passion for riding and find his niche in the motorcycle industry. With the management and organizational skills Eric brought from the Air Force the pair thought teaming up would be a wise decision and reformed the fledgling company.

After the closure of Indian Motorcycles in May 2003, where Brett O’Connor had been the General Manager, he started American Motorcycles of Colorado Springs (AMCS). Brett had spent more than 15 years in the motorcycle industry at all levels working for Harley Davidson ® and Indian ® dealerships. For years, he had wanted to have is own store and felt there was a need for an aftermarket store that could offer the similar look of a dealership with more focus placed on customer service.
